FAQ

How physically demanding are the Village Treks?   These are not physically demanding treks; typically one walks for 3 to 6  hours per day. A guide will help structure a trek that fits your fitness  profile.

Isn’t trekking just for the young ?  We have many trekkers well into their 70s, male and female. Age or gender are not barriers.

What do you do about clean water… and hygiene ?  We provide guests with fresh clean water daily by using a micro filter to purify the water. We supervise food preparation and our accommodations, while rugged, are clean.

What is the food like on the trekking routes ?  The Nepali people eat a meal of rice, lentils and vegetables twice per day. We call this dal bhat and it is available everywhere in Nepal. There are also delicious soups prepared. Meals are almost all vegetarian although meat is sometimes served as a side option.

What is a typical day like on a trek ?   We typically start with a small meal around 7 or 8 AM and depart about 1 hour later. We stop for frequent breaks and have tea. Lunch takes about 1 hour as the lunch meal is only prepared when it is ordered. In the afternoon we trek until 3 or 4  PM. The pace can be adjusted to suit the client.

How cold will it get ? What kind of clothes do we need?  The temperature varies depending upon the season but in the morning around 15C/60F and the daytime maximum temperature will seldom be below 20C/70F. We carry sleeping bags.
